Once a player always a player? Reflections on Gentrification

I am the typical candidate for regenerated developed: white, middle-class, professional and a DINKY. Gentrification is often noted as having a negative impact on the original locals. How can I reduce the negatives of gentrification, whilst still benefiting from living in these areas?
